Setup
Please Note - CableBuilder requires a 3D license in order to generate your drawings.
The first step in getting CableBuilder to work with CableBuiler3D is to make sure the necessary SQL is running; this will allow you to create 3D attributes and edit existing tables.
Ensure that your plant has been given permissions to use CableBuilder 3D, these settings can be found in Base Data > CableBuilder Enterprise > Plants > Maintain Plants. From here you can manage your Plant’s permission to use 3D.
Example:It is also important to maintain drawing parameters to ensure that the right attributes have been mapped to the correct drawing attributes. To maintain these parameters, locate: Base Data > Configure System > System Parameters > Maintain Drawing Parameters. You’ll be given a list of processes that will allow you to map the correct drawing parameters with the correct attributes.
Example:
Once the designs have been updated and the design has been processed. We then click ‘Generate Drawing’, which will take us to the 2D drawing of the cable. On this page is a button ‘Drawing 3D’ which will launch AutoCAD to generate the 3D model of the cable.
CableBuilder 3D will start up and build the cable you have chosen.
If your CableBuilder 3D is installed at a different location to the default then it will check the database for a path. If there is no path it will ask you to enter one, if you enter it wrong it will ask you again to enter the path and if that wrong it will tell you to contact your Administrator.
Once the cable has finished Building you’ll end up with something like this.
