The options available from the menu on the left in the main Design screen are described below:
To view or edit Design Header data.
To view or edit Design Alternative Text data. This is a long text field associated with the Design Alternative.
To view or edit Plant Design Alternative Header data.
To process the Design Alternative to recalculate attribute values when the Design
Alternative is out-of-date (something has changed). The Design Alternative will only be processed when the out-of-date icon 
To create a new version of a Design Alternative.
To view previous versions of a Design Alternative.
To lock the Design Alternative for editing. This feature is only available if enabled in Base Data. (CableBuilder Enterprise only)
To unlock the Design Alternative after editing. This feature is only available if enabled in Base Data. (CableBuilder Enterprise only)
To change the status of the Design Alternative and all its sub-components to Active, which means all the primary attributes can no longer be changed, protecting the Design Alternative from further changes.
A new version must then be created to change the Design Alternative. This feature is only available if enabled in Base Data.
To approve a Design Alternative at the current Approval Stage, passing it onto the next Approval Stage. This feature is only available if enabled in Base Data. (CableBuilder Enterprise only)
To view the change history of the Design Alternative.
Only available in CableBuilder Enterprise. To create a new Design Alternative. The current Design Alternative is copied to the next available Design Alternative Number.
To Delete the Design Alternative. If the Design Alternative has more than one version
then this menu button will say 'Delete Design Alternative Version'.
To copy a Design Alternative.
To display a choice of various user-defined reports for the Design.
To transfer the Design Alternative to the business system, provided that business system integration is configured. (CableBuilder Enterprise only)
To view or change documents attached to the Design Alternative.
To view Raw Materials used in the Design.
To view Operations performed in the Design.
To view raw materials used and operations performed in the design.
To select or de-select layers, and then delete the selected layers or copy the selected layers to another Design Alternative. Note that copying a layer will also copy its BOM and associated routing.
To re-sequence the layer numbers, operation numbers and BOM line numbers in the Design Alternative to follow a 10,20,30,...pattern.
To create 2D, 3D, or profile drawings of the Design Alternative.
To force all parent Designs to be made out-of-date, so they can be processed.
To prevent all parent Designs being made out-of-date.
To associate a mask with a Design.
